The problem is that there are one billion miles of it. Driving through Kansas is like groundhog day as the landscape goes by and you just sit there not moving. How far is it to Denver? How about three days. Actually, it wasn't really that bad. Not a lot of turns.
But, we made it to Denver, checking into the Hyatt Regency about 6 o'clock. 605 miles and a few hours and a few stops along the way. We have officially begun our crazy journey. Junk food is great when you are traveling in a car.
The Hyatt is wonderful, a contemporary facility that wasn't even here the last time we stopped in Denver for anything. Thanks to Tammy our stay is luxury and it will be difficult to continue, staying at Comfort Inns and Hamptons and Do Drop Inns the rest of the way. Our room has a great view of the Rockies and the new Mile High Stadium.
Denver downtown is pretty darn cool. Lots of people, lots of stores, lots of restaurants. It makes you think about how spread out Kansas City is and why we can't consolidate some things downtown, but that's for another blog down the road.
Tomorrow morning we are off to the King Tut exhibit at the Denver Art Museum. Contrary to some opinions, Mimi and I did not go to school with King Tut. But, it should be interesting. Then we are off heading westward toward Grand Junction, through the Rockies. The views should be better than today's, certainly different. We are going to try to keep going and get as close to Bryce Canyon in Utah as we possibly can so we can spend some time there.
I have boggled my blog. I can't figure how to add photos, but I'm going to try something different and hopefully I will figure it out. What's a journey blog without photos!!
Happy Trails.
